This alloy has excellent
resistance to softening at high service temperatures
(800°F). M-50 balls have a good degree of oxidation
resistance and features the high compressive strength
characteristics of high-speed tool steels. M-50 has
found wide use in the manufacture of bearings and in
missile construction. It is also used in aircraft engines
where it must retain high wear resistance and strength
up to 800°F.
